SPFYBA Sponsorship Program
The Scotch Plains Fanwood Youth Baseball Association (SPFYBA) is dedicated to building character, courage and loyalty in local area youth by providing a fun, safe, and exciting baseball program. To be successful, SPFYBA requires a tremendous amount of support from individual contributors and the local business community.  Your tax-deductible donation helps offset the costs of equipment, player insurance, adequate umpire training, Booth Field and Hut operational expenses, and will help supplement participation fees.

2010 SPFYBA Sponsorship Programs

Our 2009 baseball season was a fun and exciting season with more than 800 Scotch Plains/Fanwood youngsters spread between 70 teams in 6 divisions. In addition to the regular “house” season, many of our young athletes participated in tournaments, both in Scotch Plains and throughout our district.

In order to continue to provide the children of Scotch Plains/Fanwood with fun and exciting baseball, we need your help and support to fund league activities, purchase equipment and help defray “Booth Field” restorations and maintenance fees.

In 2007, we introduced the SPFYBA Team Sponsorship Program. For three years running, this program has been a huge success! For 2010, we are offering the following:

- For a fee of $375.00, your company can sponsor one of our teams in the Tee Ball, Jr. Tee Ball, Pee Wee, and Junior Divisions.
(Team Sponsorships will begin with Tee Ball and move consecutively to the next division once each division is full)
  • Your company/business will receive a plaque displaying a color photograph of your team, which can be displayed at your business.
  • Sponsors will have their business name on the team uniforms.
  • Team Sponsors will also be listed on the SPFYBA “Team Sponsors” page on our newly designed website.

In addition to Team Sponsorships, SPFYBA is continuing our successful Booth Field Fence Sign Sponsorship Program:
- You may advertise your business on a 4x6 sign, which will be displayed on the Booth field fences.
  • For 2010, new signs will be displayed for an initial cost of $425.00, and each additional season will only cost $225.00 as a renewal fee.
  • These signs are displayed from early April through the end of post season play, which always include teams from surrounding towns.
  • Additionally, Sign Sponsors address, phone number and a company website link will be included on the SPFYBA “Sign Sponsors” page on our newly designed website.
If you are unable to sponsor a team or sponsor a fence sign, please consider a tax-deductible contribution to our association. Without your continued support, we would not be able to provide the exciting baseball experience the kids of Scotch Plains/Fanwood have been enjoying for over the past 50 years.

Thank you in advance for your support.

The Scotch Plains Fanwood Youth Baseball Association’s 2009 season was a rewarding one for all of us. We implemented many changes, all in our continuing effort to improve the overall experience for our players. Some of those changes included:

• Rebalancing our divisions to coincide with player’s school grade
• The introduction of a 50/70 division for our 6th
• The introduction of our Parents Auxiliary to embrace new ideas graders to ease the transition to the big diamond
• Our first annual family picnic, which hosted over 400 families
• A combined league approach with other communities for our 16/18U division
• Welcoming our HS Varsity Baseball Manager onto the SPFYBA Board
• Teaming with the SPF school program for coaching clinics and managing our 7th and 8th grade teams

We were also able to make many improvements to our home at Booth Field. A sampling of those improvements includes

• Draping a 30’ high safety net around the outfield and the 3rd
• Reinforcing the retaining wall behind home plate. This alleviated an erosion problem that was threatening to ruin our field. base line. This net now protects our neighbors on Valley Road and our fans watching the games in the stands.
• Installing a 20’ x 3’ sign commemorating our field
• Reinforcing the barrier surrounding the parking lot to protect cars from the stream that surrounds the field
• Purchasing tarpolins to protect both home plate and the pitchers mound

These improvements were both necessary and timely. All of these improvements were done by volunteers wherever possible. The poles used to secure the netting were installed by professional fence builders. But volunteers worked over the entire preseason to install the net, reinforce the retaining wall, install the sign, and build the fence in the parking lot. The hard work of our volunteers, coupled with the generous contributions of our sponsors, allows us to create a wonderful baseball experience for the children of our community. Our sponsors generosity has also allowed us to hold registration fees flat, and in some cases lower them.

On behalf of the SPFYBA Board of Directors, coaches, and most importantly, players, we would like to thank you for your generosity in 2009 and hope that you continue to support our association in 2010 and beyond.

Again, thank you,
Paul Laki Jr.
